Family Fun at Christmas & Miniatures at the Speed Art Museum

We attended a Christmas party with Wes’s Nana – she loves parties!

We enjoyed a wonderful time with Wes’ family in Indiana for Christmas. We started off the fun with a visit to Nana’s place to enjoy a carried in supper with her. We excitedly gave her a copy of our book “Exquisite Miniatures by Wes and Rachelle Siegrist”, and waited for her reaction, which was one of excitement. Since we dedicated the book to Nana, it was quite a special moment for the two of us. After supper, we all enjoyed a nice evening of conversation and laughs. We spent most of the next day with Wes’ parents, Jeanie and George, at The Speed Art Museum. (They are quite kind to enjoy hanging out at art museums with us).  It was a lovely time viewing and enjoying works from the permanent collection once again, but quite delightful to see the temporary exhibit titled “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness: American Art from the Yale University Art Gallery”. There was a wall of historical portrait miniatures by artist John Trumble, as well as a couple of  miniatures on porcelain. It’s always a treat to be able to view such wonderful art in person.

Much of the remaining time was spent with the rest of the family doing Christmas time activities. We enjoyed a nice dinner at Wes’ brother, Greg’s place, and watching the kids opening and enjoying some of their Christmas presents. The highlight of the evening came when Caroline, our niece, and I sat down and colored one of her art kit gifts. We were sure it would bring quite a price on Ebay when completed 🙂 We also were able to get Wes along with his two brothers and father to stay still long enough for a photo.

Christmas morning came bringing in milder and drier weather. The entire family came over after a quick lunch, and most of us enjoyed a nice walk through the neighborhood to burn off a few holiday calories. We also very much enjoyed visiting with my family, in FL ,through Skype and our web cameras. Then Wes’ Mom, Jeanie, Caroline and I got to work on preparing food for the evening dinner. Caroline and my gourmet dish was homemade sweet potato casserole. As you can see from the photo of she and Wes, I think everyone enjoyed the dinner immensely! It was a great time and now we’re happy to be back at home, painting, and packaging books for shipping, that have been sold.

Our neice, Caroline, had a great time helping prepare a yummy Christmas supper and even more fun goofing off with her stuffed uncle Wes!

  1. Hi Wes and Rachelle,
It won’t be long now before we meet up again at the MASF show in a couple of weeks. Maybe we can add a photo or two to our respective blogs. I leave here on Sunday week – and will be very glad to get out of the cold. What is happening on the evening of Saturday January 17th? I get to Tampa at 4pm that day and can’t remember what is on. Is it near the yacht Harbour Inn? Hope you both had a happy New Year.
    Love from Bill

    1. Hi Bill,
Yes, the MASF opening & festivities will be here before we know it! I’m sure we’ll be able to add a couple of nice photos to our blogs. According to my family living in south FL, the weather is nice & mild, so it should be a welcome reflief from the cold for you. The artist party is Saturday evening, which is always quite fun. I believe Wes has emailed you more of the details.

      Hugs, Rachelle
