A Lightsaber With Fairy Dust

It’s been very interesting weather this week here in the Smokies! While we had a few days of rain and gray skies, we also enjoyed a couple days of mostly blue skies, ending the week with a blustery, mild-temperature day, allowing even shorts and sandals to be worn! Taking advantage of one sunny, late afternoon, we took a short walk nearby in the Smokies on a trail following alongside a stream.  It was extremely swollen and running wild with the recent rainfall, making for some beautiful cascades indeed!

We were also able to enjoy several meals on the back deck where we’re always joined by numerous critter friends coming for handouts. While recently eating breakfast on the porch and watching the usual squirrels fighting over their morning buffet, the most adorable little baby squirrel came up and started eating some peanuts laying nearby. It was precious and I just wanted to scoop it up into my arms and hold it, which of course, it had no inkling at all of granting me that simple pleasure. Whilst surrounded by squirrels, the Tufted Titmouse family was constantly buzzing all around and overhead as they quickly devoured their peanut crunchies. Of course, by this time my Carolina Wren Peedeepeeps, had already filled his crop to capacity with mealworms and sat perched on the gutter behind where I was sitting.  From there he could easily watch and patrol his worm bowl, quickly flying down and charging other birds coming to try and grab a worm. Eventually, he left his perch, flying out to a nearby nest box and commenced to fussing, creating a big ruckus. Within minutes he had the rest of the flock joining him, all fussing and scolding at our poor resident screech owl, Shivers, resting inside, probably wishing all those noisy little birds would just go away and leave her alone. It’s always most entertaining eating on the porch and watching the interactions of all my critter friends!

My sidekick Bunny squirrel

Wes and I finally got to see the latest Star Wars movie one afternoon this past week with friends Dick and Elise, and Yes, . . . it was as awesome as I thought it would be! I grew up watching the Star Wars movies and have seen everyone on the big screen now. Even though I’ve liked many characters over the years, Yoda is my favorite, and I always wanted to be a Jedi warrior, especially if I could’ve been trained by Yoda. After watching the movie recently,  I told Wes of my desire to be a Jedi whilst growing up, continuing that I’m sure my lightsaber would be pink and spray out fairy dust, which would, in turn, mesmerize the bad guys and then my trusty lightsaber and I would slay the evil warriors. But not without the help of my trusty sidekick Bunny squirrel, who with her amazing abilities to fling herself through treetops and flip over limbs, mixed with her courage to charge others and push them off of tables and rails with her front paws, would be able to single-handedly take out several of the evil warriors, thus helping me and my pink lightsaber restore order and peace to the universe!
